Pet-Friendly Hotels In Taormina
Looking for a genuinely dog-friendly hotel in Taormina? Sicily’s flagship resort town sits high above the Ionian Sea with Etna on the horizon, and much of it is walkable with a dog: Corso Umberto is traffic-free, Piazza IX Aprile looks out over the bay, and the cable car down to Mazzarò and the pebble beach at Isola Bella takes dogs wearing a muzzle and lead. Castelmola, the village around a Norman castle above town, adds a second viewpoint. What you will not find is a published municipal beach rule for dogs, so ask locally before heading for the sand.
The eight hotels below include four 5-star hotels, two sister 4-star boutique hotels with identical pet terms and two 4-star hotels that charge no pet fee. We checked each hotel’s published dog policy, fee and room rules; two of the 5-star hotels list pets as allowed without publishing their terms, and the cards say so. Note the size limits before you book, as they range from 10 kg to any size.

Getting To & Around Taormina With A Dog
The nearest airport is Catania. Interbus and Etna Trasporti coaches link the airport with Taormina and carry one pet per passenger with its own ticket, inside a cage or carrier no larger than 40 x 30 x 25 cm on the floor beside your seat, never on a seat; guide dogs travel free on a lead and muzzle. Drivers can refuse boarding on crowded buses, and an animal that soils or disturbs is put off with no refund.
By rail, Trenitalia serves Taormina-Giardini station down on the coast: small pets travel free in a carrier up to 70 x 30 x 50 cm, and larger dogs ride on a lead and muzzle with a EUR 5 ticket (EUR 1 on Saturdays), except on the Regional trains marked in the timetable.
Between the town and the sea, the Taormina–Mazzarò cable car runs every 15 minutes and admits dogs wearing a muzzle and lead; small dogs may ride in a carrier, and the stations lend them. Keep the dog on a lead along Corso Umberto and in the squares.
